Baiu is a short, stubby ninja, who, with his teammates Shigure and Midare, confronts Gaara and his team in the Forest of Death. Not much is known about him, except that he wears a bamboo hat on his head, carries two oilpaper umbrellas on his back (although in this scene on the right he is mistakenly drawn with one umbrella) and what appears to be an oxygen tank. Gaara uses Desert Coffin followed by Desert Funeral to kill him and his two teammates.
'Baiu' means 'rain during the rainy season' or simply 'rainy season' in Japanese, an obvious testament to his village.
